You may be already aware of Dial2Do Mobile Service in the past. At Mobile World Congress 2010, Dial2Do, the company that enables voice-activated hands-free communications, has announced the launch of its voice activated mobile application for Google’s Android platform, an additive element to the broad range of voice activated messaging services the company provides. Now, in addition to being able to send text messages by voice from any phone, Dial2Do users with a smartphone operating on Google’s Android platform can also have incoming text messages read aloud, enabling a complete handsfree texting solution for drivers.

“Recent studies have illustrated just how dangerous texting while driving can be – in some cases many times more dangerous than driving while intoxicated,” said Ivan MacDonald, CEO of Dial2Do. “The Dial2Do service on Android makes it possible for people to engage in two-way text messaging while driving without ever having to take their hands off their steering wheel or, more importantly, their eyes off the road. In the coming months, we intend to roll-out the application across other popular platforms.”

The application intercepts incoming text messages so the driver does not even have to look at the device. Once the message is read aloud by the system, the driver can reply to that message also by voice. The outgoing message is converted into text by Dial2Do and sent in text form to the recipient. The application can be used with any Android phone and, when synced with a Bluetooth device, drivers can listen to incoming messages through their headset as they would if they were having a phone conversation.

The Dial2Do mobile application for Android is part of a much broader voice activated messaging platform, Dial2Do Pro, that also lets drivers send and listen to emails, send memos and reminders as well as post to some of the most popular social networking sites an Web destinations like Twitter and Google Calendar using their voice. New users who sign up for a Dial2Do account through the Android app will have access to the full Dial2Do Pro offering which can be accessed from any mobile device.

The Dial2Do application for Android is available in the Android Marketplace. Android phone users who download the app can have their text messages read aloud for free. Those who upgrade to the Dial2Do Pro service for $3.99/month or $39.99 for the year will have access to the full range of additional features, including the ability to reply to text messages by voice. Any mobile phone user can sign up for the service by going to http://www.dial2do.com.
