Renesas joins Symbian Foundation
Renesas has joined the Symbian Foundation to further innovate mobile chipsets for Symbian platform. The availability of Renesas chipsets that support the Symbian platform enables OEMs worldwide to create Symbian-compliant devices that fully meet the needs of network operators, accelerating the adoption of Symbian around the world.
Renesas has a proven record of providing mobile chipset platforms for NTT DOCOMO's FOMA MOAP (S) Symbian-based smartphones. By becoming a member of the Symbian Foundation, Renesas has re-affirmed its commitment to working with the Symbian community to realize a truly exciting, unique multimedia user experience for mobile consumers.

Renesas has joined the Symbian Foundation to proactively participate within the open source ecosystem and to drive innovation centred on the combination of Renesas' next-generation multi-core CPU technology and cutting-edge multimedia and graphics capabilities provided by the Symbian platform. Renesas also intends to contribute to the development of the Symbian Hardware Abstraction Interface (SHAI), which will make hardware adaptation easier than ever before.
