Hitachi Displays has announced that it has developed a new 4.5-inch IPS LCD (HD: 1280 x 720 pixels) with 3D capable. Interestingly, the new mobile 3D screen doesn’t require glasses to enjoy the 3D pictures. Using 'liquid crystal lens system', the new mobile screen offers 2X the brightness compared to the 'parallax barrier method' currently seen in devices on the market. It has 400 cd/m2 brightness when displaying 2D mode and 470 cd/m2 brightness when displaying 3D mode. The new screen could be used in portable TVs, mobile gaming devices, and cell phones.
