Sonim has announced its latest ultra-rugged phone, now with NFC capability. Touted as the world's first ultra-rugged Near Field Communications (NFC) mobile phone, like its predecessor Sonim XP1300 Core and all Sonim phones, the XP1301 CORE NFC far surpasses the toughest standards for ruggedness and durability. Beyond military specification, the XP1301 Core can be dropped from 2 meters onto concrete. As a reminder, recently another phone from the company, Sonim XP3300 Force has been awarded a Guinness World Record for being the World's Toughest Phone.

With its IP-68 specification, the XP1301 can be submerged in two metres of water for up to 60 minutes. Sonim XP1301 Core still operates in temperatures from -20 to +55 Celsius and has an impact and puncture proof Corning Gorilla Glass display. It also has the longest talk time of any NFC phone with 20 to 24 hours and 800 hours of standby time.

Sonim XP1301 CORE NFC will be available globally through Sonim’s business partners and system integrators. Manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) if sold unlocked without an network operator contract is 355 euro or 289 pounds (UK).
