Samsung SGH-F490 Video. This is follow up from last post, Samsung SGH-F490 Touch-Screen Launched. If you like the Croix interface, you’ll like the Samsung F490. The unique thing about this handset is that it pairs the Croix interface with a touch-sensitive display with haptic-feedback. Actually, like all Samsung handsets with vibration-feedback, the F490 uses a pseudo-haptic feedback system. The entire device vibrates to indicate a button/keypress, rather than localizing the vibration/haptic feedback to the specific area of input. It’s not real haptic feedback, but it’s a start.
The Samsung F490 features a 3 megapixel camera and HSDPA in a slim package that should appeal to the style-seekers out there. It has HSDPA at 3.6Mbps, UMTS, and EDGE. Continue reading ‘Samsung SGH-F490 Touch-Screen Video’
Vodafone has announced two new own branded mobile phones - Vodafone 227 (clamshell) and Vodafone 228 (slider) during the Mobile World Congress. The former looks very much like the utilitarian Nokia 2650, while the 228 is uninspiring to say the least.
Both look set to be entry-level handsets, featuring GSM dual band, voice and text capabilities, a color display of unknown resolution and size, vibration, and a headphone socket. With these two, Vodafone is targeting emerging markets but also people in Europe who want a simple phone that can take and make phone calls and do the “SMS thing.” Continue reading ‘Vodafone 227, 228 Cellphone’

HTC makes Sony Ericsson Xperia X1? According to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) - it’s HTC which will make Xperia X1 for Sony Ericsson. The Taiwan based smartphone maker certainly has the needed experience in Windows Mobile device manufacturing and has already manufactured devices for other companies (Palm). Sony Ericsson showcased the Xperia X1 at the 2008 GSMA Mobile World Congress being held in Barcelona, Spain, with the handset to be available in the second half of 2008, the EDN said.
It’s probably true, yet we can’t confirm it, and at this stage you can only believe it or not. At the end, it’s not that important who makes the device as long as it works perfectly.
