Hitachi unveils 4.5-inch advanced LCD display for smartphones

Hitachi Displays has announced that it has developed a new LCD display for smartphones. The screen features a 4.5-inch IPS LCD (16:9), 720x1,280 resolution, 329ppi pixel density, LED backlight, 500cd/m2 brightness, and 1,100:1 contrast ratio.

By way of comparison: Retina Display on the Apple iPhone 4 comes with 3.5-inch, 960×640 resolution, 326 ppi pixel density and a 800:1 contrast ratio.
