Third PayPal X Developer Challenge is Android mobile apps

Good news for Android developers, PayPal has officially announced that it is looking for developers across the globe to build the most “innovative Android mobile apps” that leverage PayPal’s technologies — including Mobile Payments Library and Mobile Express Checkout — for mobile payments. If you’re a mobile developer working on the next big Android app, you could try to use PayPal’s mobile technologies for payments and be rewarded for your idea. Even if you don’t win one of the great prizes, you’ll still start receiving money instantly in your PayPal account as your app starts generating money for you. There’s no monthly waiting for a check to arrive in the mail. You get paid when you sell.

We’re looking for developers across the globe to build the most innovative Android mobile apps that leverage PayPal’s technologies (Mobile Payments Library, Mobile Express Checkout) for mobile payments. If joining the illustrious PayPal Developer Network isn’t enough to get you registered, we’re also offering up some wonderful prizes for our winners.

We will be honoring three developers with a total of $50,000:

* Grand Prize winner will receive $25,000
* Second place winner will receive $15,000
* Third place winner will receive $10,000

Starting now, we are officially accepting submissions. If you choose to accept this challenge, take note of these important dates:

* May 14: last day to submit your Android mobile app idea
* June 3: last day to make final changes to your app; it must be ready for judging
* June 7: your app must be live in the Android Market
* Week of June 27: winners will be announced
